Òrí - The Yoruba Concept of a Person's head
Orí literally meaning "head," refers to one's spiritual intuition which is the calabash that contains the head and heart. It is the reflective spark of human consciousness embedded into the human essence, and therefore is often personified as an Òrísá in its own right. It is believed that human beings are able to heal themselves both spiritually and physically by working with the Òrísá to achieve a balanced character or Iwá-pèlè. When one has a good balanced character, one obtains an alignment with one's Orí or divine self. It is also believed that Orí is to be worshiped like Òrísá.
The Yoruba believe that Orí embraces both knowledge and wisdom, and because it is a manifestation of both thought and emotion, a better definition would be either the human soul, or the human spirit.

All good thing that I have on earth, It is Orí whom I will praise, My Orí, it is you. Orí I salute you, You do not forget me your child. You bless before the Òrísá. No Òrísá blesses without the consent of Òrí.
